Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students are very mobile, my co-teacher's and I teaching style requires it. We work in many small groups throughout the day to work on specific skills. This class works better in smaller groups and accomplishes more. "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world" Mandala. The students are in 3rd grade. They are rambunctious and very persistent in their studies. They need a lot of structure and love to bring balance to their lives. They very talented and caring for one another. Our school is a complete community rather a body of students and teachers. We try to be very vocal to each other, participate, and encourage one another. The principal tries to be fair and cater to every student. She puts wonderful shows and programs for them so, they can experience different things.
My Project
In the classroom, we do not have an easel which would be used majority of the time for parallel teaching. In an ICT classroom there are two teachers, and basically, we need two of everything, including the kidney table and the easel. We spend majority of our day in different small group instruction for station teaching or parallel. This becomes a challenge when you don't have the space or enough tables to put together. Plus a dry erase board big enough to convey the concept. The task becomes harder and you become creative. In spite of that, it is still difficult to teach without those items, one teacher is always at a disadvantage.
The donation of the kidney table and the easel will help to perfect the teachings of my co-teacher's and I by increasing versatility within the classroom.
Transitioning and developing the concept (teaching) will be easier and manageable. Student already enjoy our activities and participant well, but this will bring more organization and visible engagement and learning for the students.
