My students need envelopes and paper to continue to grow as writers. With these supplies, we will expand our morning stations to include a mail station. We will have a real reason to read and write.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five and six year-olds. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together, which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers writers and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
In this project, we are asking for very basic writing supplies. We need envelopes and paper to start writing to each other. With the index cards, we can make sure everyone gets a note each and every week.
These neat easel pads will let us create large versions of what we need to say to each other.
We will share the pen and follow the teacher to write notes to characters in stories, author we really like and to each other. Sometimes, we will write apology notes to the teacher or other staff members, because we do act like five year olds some days.
