Paper Roller Coasters for STEM

My students need card stock, tape, and scoring boards to create their own paper roller coasters.

My Students

Have you ever wanted to create your very roller coaster? Imagine engineering a model of a roller coaster out of paper!

My third grade students are bright, creative, and eager to learn.

They genuinely love coming to school each day, ready to soak up all that they could. As a STEM-focused school, teachers are challenged with the task of creating a curriculum that is innovative and will ready our students for the 21st century.

My Project

My students will learn how to engineer a roller coaster out of paper and tape. They will learn about structures and how things move with the help of gravity. We will go through the engineering design process to create their dream roller coaster, and they will be able to create a model of it and test to see if it works. Math, science, and technology will all be used to help students problem solve as they have fun!

The donations of the card stock, tape, and scoring boards will help my students understand the engineering design process as they can physically go through it and not just read about it theoretically.

They will always remember the time they built a roller coaster of out paper!
