My Students

Can you imagine what it's like to be in a third grade classroom and not have even the basics? Paper and pencils are the minimum that students should be equipped with in school. We're not asking for much, only paper to get us by.

I am the proud teacher of 30 lovely second and third graders this year.

Although considered a low income school, the students I teach are high achievers. They are in a dual language program in which they are learning all of their subjects in both English and Spanish. While I work very hard to engage my students in challenging and enriching instruction, I sometimes find it very difficult to do so without the necessary supplies, like paper. It may seem trivial to some, but paper is a supply that you simply cannot have enough of in the classroom. We use it for a variety of purposes like daily handwriting, reports, artwork, parent notes and newsletters, projects, journal assignments, and so much more. Yes, teachers at our school are supplied with a minimal amount of paper, twice a year. However, it isn't nearly as much as we need.

My Project

I am asking for copying paper, Post It Charts and pads, and essay paper. These tools will allow my students to not only complete daily writing assignments but homework and many other writing activities that they are required to do throughout the year.

As teachers, we have so much to be concerned with while educating our young people, finding paper for our students should not be one of them.

Thank you for considering my proposal so that my students will have a successful school year.
