My Students

My students are awesome! I teach at a Philadelphia Public School that qualifies for Title I funding. My entire class qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students live in a single parent household and some of them are being cared for by a foster family or extended family members.

Despite the challenges my students face, they come each day with a great attitude.

Many of them have faced hardships that you would never want any child to ever experience. I provide a safe, nurturing environment where kids can learn and progress.

My Project

The materials I am requesting in this project is to help meet my students basic needs. We are in need of materials we use every day during reading and writing. Having pencils available will alleviate stress and anxiety my students feel when they do not have what they need for class. Index cards will ensure my primary readers have their words on cards to read and study. They are so excited to have word study boxes. Next, colored paper will give our worksheets and activities a pop of color and help keep students motivated. It will also brighten our bland walls when student work is hung up. And last, the pens will provide the fun, exciting color on white paper. Students will have such fun sharing their "colorful ideas."

I need help to remove barriers to learning and success by providing the essentials my students need each day.

The items in this project will help us reach that goal.
