Paper, Pencils, Kids Oh My!

My students need pencils, a pencil sharpener and our paper supply at school always runs low. Please help me get to the end of the year!

My Students

I teach at a middle school in Georgetown, SC. We are a Title I school with great kids. I teach SC History, and we do a number of activities that require paper/copies, i.e.: guided notes and graphic organizers. Some of my students have limited resources and the items take us to years end!

I have great kids!

Some have limited resources. We push our students to do there very best, and we have high standards for their achievements. We are a Title I school, but we embrace our students for who they are and stress that all students can and will be successful!

My Project

My students need pencils, pencil sharpener, and paper. We will use these items for class work in SC History. We use interactive notebooks and our kids always in need of a pencil. The graphic organizers and guided notes give our students a much better grasp of the content. These items give us more time for discussions about our topic rather than normal note taking!

Like I stated earlier, We are a Title I School and some of our students have limited resources.

We have done a two year Staff Development on Teaching Kids of Poverty with Dr. Palowski from Francis Marion University. Teachers fuss at students that don't bring materials to class...this causes stress and stress limits the brains ability to learn, thus our students may not do as well because of stress caused by me fussing over a pencil...this project will eliminate that stress and improve learning.
