This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Marvels strive to better themselves, their school, and their community. The students in my class are creative, inquisitive, and fun-loving.
Despite all of the difficulties that face my Marvels, they come to school each day ready to learn.
Our school is a wonderful oasis in a working middle/working poor community. My school is an optional school, however my 2 classes are made up of "in community" students. These are students that live in the neighborhood that surrounds our school.
Our classroom's name is "Mrs. Michael's Marvels." I teach my students that there is a superhero in each of them. I want them to know that they can achieve "super" things when they put their minds to it. We work everyday to establish a kinship- somewhat like the Avengers. We each have different strengths and weaknesses but when we come together we can achieve great things.
My Project
Learning centers are an essential part of creating a hands-on learning experience for students. Thanks to various sites, teachers are now able to share and print center activities. Lamination of these items helps them to be preserved so that students can use them over and over again. I have the centers purchased. I have the printer ready to print and I have the laminators ready- but I am lacking paper and laminating pouches. This project will help me get these things in order to provide quality, reusable centers for my students.
Fluorescent lights are not the greatest when it comes to providing a calm and soothing atmosphere.
The light covers requested in this project would help me to soften the harshness of the lights in the classroom for my Marvels. It would help me to continue to make my classroom a safe and calm environment for all my students- several of whom have educational, emotional, and focus struggles.
