This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the art teacher at a Chicago Public School, I work with over 500 students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Creativity fills our classroom every day, as students explore ideas, express themselves, and build confidence through making art. But none of that can happen without one essential material—paper!

Paper is the foundation of almost everything we do in the art room.

Whether students are drawing, painting, cutting, folding, or collaging, paper is the surface that brings their ideas to life. We use it every day, all day, across all grade levels and projects.

Unfortunately, our school has extremely limited funds for art supplies, and paper runs out quickly when it is in constant use by hundreds of students. We urgently need white drawing paper for sketching and coloring, colorful construction paper for vibrant designs, and sturdy watercolor paper that holds up to wet media.

By supporting this project, you will help ensure that 500 young artists have what they need to create, learn, and grow. Your generosity will put paper into their hands and keep their creativity flowing all year long.
