Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from an low income area with limited resources available to them. While most kids at home are worrying strictly about their new way of life, my students are struggling to help their parents put food on the table, pay the electric bills, and manage Distance learning all at the same time. They desperately need your help.
With such limited resources available to them, it has been a challenge for my students to produce the high quality of work that they used to in class because they don't even have the basic supplies to use.
Many don't have much more than a pencil and some lined paper. It is therefore my goal to provide each and every student with all of the supplies they need to create their projects at home.
My Project
Distance Learning can be a challenge in itself, but when you compound the frustrations that the students are facing with a lack of supplies to complete their art projects at home, depression and anxiety have begun to spike within my students. It is extremely frustrating and disheartening as their teacher not to be able to provide them with the proper supplies to help them.
Due to their limited resources available to them, there is typically nothing left in most of their homes for art supplies to complete their Distance Learning projects.
I have bought a lot of them what I can this year, but as a single mom, it's tough. I am very concerned as we move into the next school year that we will be faced with these same issues. I am therefore hoping all or some of my projects will get funded, so that I can provide all of my classes with the basic necessities needed to complete their assignments. For this project, I am asking for sketch books for them, so that they have paper to work on. It will also facilitate them in creating an organized space for their work. This way, at the end of the year, they will also be able to flip through it and see their growth.
