Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our Title I public school serves neighborhood students, many of whom live in non-English speaking families. I teach Spanish-English bilingual second-grade students who are learning part of the day in Spanish while developing their English skills, so that they can become fully bilingual by the time they transition to middle school. Writing at great level in both languages is crucial for these students, as they will need strong writing foundations for their future academic development and professional careers.
Our class works on different writing projects for language arts.
Students need to work independently, which means that they need to have access to different paper to organize their writing and to display their final work in the way they find most appropriate. This involves having access to well organized piles of paper offering different possibilities for their writings. A class organizer will keep the paper they need for their writing projects in a more efficient way.
