Help me give my students a a way to stay updated with ink so I can print individualized progress reports and growth charts as well as providing a basic necessity of notebook paper so they can write.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have students who come from all kinds of backgrounds. They range anywhere from grade levels behind in their education to achieving far above grade level.
They come from troubled and unsafe neighborhoods.
Whatever their backgrounds, they still find the motivation to come to school every day because they know education is the key to their futures. Whether they choose to go to college or a trade school, I will help them to get there.
I want them to be able to reach those expectations that I have for them and they have set for themselves.
My Project
With budgets being tight this year, I have been told that our school's supply of even basic necessities like notebook paper will eventually run out. I am trying to get ahead of the game to ensure that my students have even this most basic academic necessity.
Also, I like to keep my students up to date on their current grades as well as their growth.
Much of that needs to be printed. The nearest printer/copier to my classroom that is district-provided is all the way on the other side of campus. This does not give me the flexibility to provide information to students on demand. So, to solve this, I have a small printer in my room. Thus, the need for ink.
I also teach a Peer Leadership class. I am trying to teach them how to problem solve challenges they may face in life, whether at home, at school, with peers, or with themselves. We have a lot of class discussion as well as do a lot of journal activities and reflection. However, as stated previously, we are short on paper. With this project, I will give these students an outlet to write about the challenges in their lives and how they intend to face them and become stronger in the process.
