My Students
My students are in grades 9 through 12 in Philadelphia. They are eager to explore many art mediums this year. Art offers so much to the Philadelphia School District such as the ability to think creatively, a positive emotional outlet, a chance to build community, and whole brain development. I have experiences where I have seen students who struggle in their other academic classes, excel in mine. Art offers an opportunity to have a positive experience in school and keep them engaged.
My Project
I am asking for donations for this project in order to be able to have students paint this year. Additionally, paper to paint on. I am ordering two different kinds of paint and paper. The one type is tempera paint and regular drawing paper. The next is watercolor paint and watercolor paper.
With having different types of paint this will offer students a variety.
They will gain the knowledge of the two types and different techniques artist use for each. They will then get to decide which kind they prefer because they give different outcomes and feel differently while using a brush. Students will appreciate having these two different kinds of paint to use in the classroom. They will also get more excited about art when they are not just using the same materials for every project!
