My Students

My students are loving, hardworking, and driven second graders! Each strives to make the best of each day regardless of their academic and personal struggles. My students need extra help in all academic areas and constantly need extra time to truly learn a particular skill. Although they have these challenges, our students work hard to achieve not only in English but in Spanish within our dual language program.

Our students live in an urban area and the vast majority come from low-income homes.

Our school does not only provide a nurturing environment for our students but a place where they can truly feel successful.

Each of my students comes to school to learn. At times this desire is overpowered by situations they cannot control. We believe in their abilities and want nothing more than to see them achieve these important skills they will use in their daily lives.

My Project

My students come from low poverty homes. They come to school excited to learn each day. I would like to create a job in the classroom called the "paparazzi." This person would take pictures every week of students who are working together on their final projects. This would include writing essays, posters, and hands-on activities we do in the classroom. We would put these photos up in the hallway to show the other students and teachers in the building as well as their parents, who are dropping off or picking up their students.

The cameras would create a sense of ownership within the student's work as well as create a passion for photography for some students where reading and writing might be difficult.

I want to give my students an opportunity to shine even though their academics may be a struggle. This camera would be such a great asset to my classroom in not only highlighting the great work my students create but also creating confidence in boys and girls to find what field they are passionate about.
