Panther's Best FOOTball Forward

My students need 21 pairs of black/gold Football Game Day socks not only for warmth and protection out on the field, but for a sense of pride and unity on their team.

My Students

"We're always near you ready to cheer you, true we'll always be. Fight Fight Fight! Proud of our colors, strong and united come on team let's go! We'll fight, we'll win, we'll give our all!"

These words are no stranger to anyone who's attended a sporting event at our local middle/high school.

Our one building school houses Pre-K all the way through 12th grade, but don't take what we lack in size as a measure of what we have in heart and spirit. Whether it's our fans cheering from the sidelines at a volleyball game, or the team getting pumped up for Friday night football, you can not deny the amount of energy our little community can bring.

These students are who I was. I grew up in this same little community, playing on the same courts and fields, and it is the passion of the students and staff that made my decision to come back and help this little community grow. Now as an educator, I am honored with the same opportunity to help inspire these students.

My Project

"We're from OJHF, what does it even matter?"

These are the exact words heard the other night during one of the evening practices of our school.

It's no secret that our school has passion and heart, but sometimes students and coaches alike can lose sight of that when faced with the difficulty of a tough practice or lack of resources.

As educators, it is our goal to guide our students towards academic achievements. As a coach of multiple activities, I am reminded time and time again that we are not only guiding our student athletes to "March to victory", like in our fight song, but towards passion, skills, and lessons that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. My husband and I both work not only as coaches to these students but mentors and role models. We strive at every opportunity to give back and support our community, leading by example in coaching volleyball, football, track, and volunteering with youth sports programs.

These special game day socks will not only aid in keeping our athletes muscles warm and protected during the cold Minnesota evening football games, they will represent something much more. This project will help in our mission to instill pride and unity in our Junior High Football Team.

"Proud of our colors, strong and united." Our student athletes recite loud and proud the words of our school song, but it's our job to teach them what those words mean. The black and gold colors of these socks will reinforce the students' sense of pride that they are representing their school out on the field. This apparel will help to further strengthen their sense of community and togetherness as a team.
