Your generosity has made a real difference for my students, not just in how they learn math, but in how they feel about themselves as math learners. Having access to calculators has helped remove fear and frustration, allowing students to approach math with more confidence and curiosity.\r\n\r\n In our classroom, calculators are used as tools for learning, not shortcuts. Students use them to check their work, explore patterns, and tackle problems that once felt overwhelming. Instead of getting stuck on basic calculations, they're able to focus on understanding concepts and explaining their thinking. This has helped students stay engaged and build trust in their own problem-solving abilities.\r\n\r\n The most exciting change has been in students' willingness to try. Many students who used to shut down when math felt hard are now giving problems a chance because they know they have support. I hear more students saying things like, \"Let me try,\" or \"I think I can figure this out.\" That shift in mindset has been incredibly powerful and has carried over into class discussions, group work, and assessments.\r\n\r\n Some students who struggled the most before have shown the biggest growth. Their confidence has increased, their participation has improved, and we are already seeing gains in math scores. These calculators have helped students feel capable and successful, and that belief in themselves is making all the difference. Thank you for investing in our classroom and helping our students grow as confident mathematicians.","fullyFundedDate":1760457033888,"projectUrl":"project/calculate-good-scores/9771370/","projectTitle":"Calculate Good Scores","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8698619_orig.jpg?crop=1885,1885,x0,y119&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673374270872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8698619"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75927","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":261,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":46,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":59.0,"schoolId":75927,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Onamia Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Onamia Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/onamia-independent-school-district-480/onamia-elementary-school/75927"}
