My Students

I truly believe learning to love to read can make a huge difference in the future of our children.
My students are a diverse group in which some are speaking English as a second language, some with learning disabilities, and others that are achieving beyond grade level expectations. More than 94% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Even with the obstacles they face, they are a motivated group of kids with hearts of gold.
My Project
I am creating a character education program that will help my 4th graders learn about tolerance. In my classroom, I want to teach students about character education and accepting others. Through completion of parts of the program, students will earn rewards based on their success. The students will also be able to earn classroom money when they are putting the learned parts of our character education into place. It is just as important to teach tolerance, as making sure the students are putting the learning into place. The items being requested will be used in our classroom store and as motivators to do well and succeed in the program. For example, students can earn pencils, erasers, and pens for each task they complete of the program. Students can also earn classroom bucks to buy larger items, such as sports balls, candy, notepads and more. This project will allow my students to learn about tolerance and character education in a fun and rewarding way. My students have big dreams of having successful futures, so please help make this dream come true in my classroom.
