Panther Paws Up for ASL: Little Panthers Learn to Sign
Help me give my students a foundation in ASL through visual supports, classroom stories, and learning materials so they can all feel included and better communicate with one another!
We serve so many students from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of needs in our preschool and school-age settings. Our goal is to celebrate our differences and make everyone feel represented and welcome in these settings. We also want to make sure we meet the diverse needs of all of our students, helping them to adequately access and progress in our school environment and curriculum. This often requires us to be knowledgeable in a variety of teaching methods and to have access to necessary materials and supports.
With this specific project, you can help us meet the needs of our students who are deaf or hearing impaired through access to some of these necessary materials such as ASL based visual supports, children's literature, and special activity resources.
These materials will help to enhance the learning of many of our preschool and kindergarten students and will help to make our school environment more inclusive to our friends who are deaf or hearing impaired. The visual supports will help both staff and students expand their ASL vocabularies Paws Up and Signing and will assist in the teaching of many academic concepts in the areas of literacy, mathematics and science. The ASL based stories will help to teach students about individuals who are deaf or hearing impaired and will help students from this community feel more represented and understood. The TPT resources gift card and workbook learning materials will also support the general curriculum studies providing the ASL support needed for many students to make adequate progress.
