Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year we share our learning with our entire school. This year, we're cranking it up. We're building a museum!
My fifth graders live in a working class and immigrant neighborhood.
Some of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, some are gifted, and all of them love to learn. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.
My Project
The theme at our school is "ACTS" - art, communication, technology, and science. We are making a museum space in our classroom so we can show our creations to the rest of the school. Our exhibits will include an art exhibition, a science center, a literature installation, and a recreation of colonial America. We have access to some tri-fold cardboard set-ups, but it would be great to create a professional look by having art display panels. These panels can sit on top of a desk and are Velcro-ready. We are asking for one 3-panel display, plus Velcro dots to attach items to the display boards.
With your generous donation, each budding Van Gogh or O'Keefe will have a place to hang their masterpieces.
My students will be able to create a museum space that can display any kind of material. Whether they are showing artwork or science fair descriptions, this panel system will make our museum look like a class act. My students and I thank you!
