My Students

I teach 25 students from mostly low-socioeconomic backgrounds. They are curious and eager learners who have been dealt a challenging hand in life. We have almost every ethnicity represented in our classroom as well as a variety of academic abilities.

My Project

These past THREE school years have been really challenging for students. Nothing is simple and everything continues to be ever-changing. In our school, like every public location around the world, we cannot use the water fountains because of possible contamination. Our school has installed water bottle fillers but most students do not have cups or water bottles to use them. The water bottles will provide students with the chance to be hydrated so they can have their basic needs met to learn!

I've asked for the cup holders because the students who do bring water bottles have to leave them on their desk or the floors and they are constantly dumping over and interrupting instruction to clean up spills.

Finally, my school only provides adult-sized masks for the students. They are constantly falling off their faces even when we adjust the ear loops. The ability to have a clean, well-fitting mask is so important.
