Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They live in a socio-economic depressed area. We are a Title 1 school and most of my students are on free/reduced-price lunch. I have students who are homeless, who are newcomers to this country, who speak English as a second language, and who have special needs.
As diverse as my students are, they all have one thing in common--they are always ready to try their best.
My students care about their future and want to learn to be the best they can be. They want to be active in their community. They want to be leaders.
My Project
I have ordered some PE equipment for my students to use at home in order to stay active and healthy both physically and mentally. Unfortunately, I didn't know the exact number of students who would need these supplies and I didn't order enough. In order for every student to have enough hacky sacks to do a hand-eye coordination juggling unit, I will need more hacky sacks. These will also be used for foot-eye coordination as the students use them with their feet. I have also added resistance bands as all the other PE teachers will be using these with their students.
My students don't have the resources to purchase these on their own, and I want to make sure they have the supplies they need and be equitable in the distribution of these supplies.
