My students have been stuck inside for about 5 months now and will not be returning to school any time soon. It is vital that they keep moving, not only for their physical health but also for their mental health. Unfortunately, most of my students don't have the resources or equipment to do this.
By giving my students a "go bag" of equipment, it is my hope that we can keep them moving during this uncertain and highly stressful time. It is my intention to fill the drawstring bag with many items that my students can use at home to keep in shape physically. The hacky sack can be used for eye-foot coordination by using it with your feet, but it can also be used for hand-eye coordination when used for juggling. The jump rope will be used for aerobic activity and the frisbee for strength and coordination. These will be added to other items such as tennis balls and pedometers.
The laminating machine will be used to make cards for students to learn the parts of the body. By putting bones and muscles in the proper place, students can learn how their bodies move and how they can improve that movement. They can also learn proper nutrition. This machine can also be used in my science classes.
