Help me give my students the ability to work together in small groups again! The grid dry erase board and supplies will help us focus on Algebraic Thinking. We also need wobble seating sturdy enough for middle schoolers.
Leading educational theorist Jean Piaget once said, "The primary goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done."
I work with many amazing students at a middle school, specifically in Math Interventions.
The pandemic has caused many students to slip below grade level or lose confidence in their abilities. The goal of our Math Interventions is to help any student who is struggling with math - those with Individualized Education Plans, and those who do not qualify for an IEP. We hope to help students regain confidence as they master basic foundational skills and apply them to the concepts they are learning in their grade level math classes.
My Project
COVID-19 has been hard on all of our students, but especially for students who were already struggling with basic math skills. As we begin in-person learning again, it's important to start strong with our small group instruction, but also keep the students safe as various variants work their way through our communities. The motion stools will help students move in their seat without distracting others.
The materials in this project, including a graph grid dry erase board and a fractions, decimals & percents activity kit will help a variety of middle school students regain basic math foundational skills that they missed due to COVID-19.
As we prepare students to excel in their middle school math classes and to continue on in their education, we will focus our attention on Algebraic Thinking. All of the materials in this project will facilitate small group learning about Algebraic Thinking.
