Help me give my students the experience of a life time pretending to be paleontologists digging up a dinosaur's bones in an excavation science experiment kit. They need goggles and books too.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a Grade 3 Special Education Teacher for emotionally impaired students. My students' disabilities range from specific learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and ADHD. The typical student in my class struggles not only with academics, such as reading and math, but also with social skills. My students require a strictly-structured environment, teacher modeling, as well as understanding, and compassion from the staff to bring out the very best in each one of these children. These amazing children have the potential to grow, both academically and socially, when given the proper tools and strategies needed to help them succeed.
Our students come from families who live in a low-income urban setting.
Many of them have experienced trauma in their young lives, that have already impacted their emotional growth, as well as their ability to succeed academically.
My students deserve a fun engaging learning environment to help them succeed!
My Project
The materials and supplies I am requesting will create a special adventure for my studnets to remember for a lifetime! The Dig IT Dinosaur Excavation Science Kits, books, and goggles will become part of my classroom materials that will be used as resources for fossil understanding for one of our science units. The different dinosaur books will assist children in developing research skills that will allow them the opportunity to enhance their presentation skills in front of other students and adults within our school.
The Dig It Dinosaur Excavation Science Kits will allow each student the chance of a lifetime to be paleontologists digging up their very own dinosaur fossils!
This hands on science experiment not only allows students to dig up the dinosaur fossils, but allows my students to build their own dinosaur out of the fossils pieces and take the display home for years to remember!
