My students love to express themselves through art. I enjoy to hear them explain what their painting is and to see the oral language that is being developed through art.
Our Eagle Pride shines through our 260 kids from Pre-K to 8th grade.
We have a unique population of students, because we meet them in Pre-K at 4 years old and say good bye to them after the 8th grade at 14 years old. Our school is a large family and we do our best to make a difference in each and every child. We are located in the middle of several crawfish ponds and rice fields. So we are not surprised that our students come to school in rubber boots.
My Project
Students in Kindergarten need several different strategies to express themselves. We will use our supplies as a center for students to create responses to books, feelings, and paint masterpieces. Learning to hold a paint brush can prepare a child to hold a pencil. At this age we are still developing fine motor skills. What kid does not like to paint? What parent does not like to see the paintings a 5 year old brings home?
When learning is fun, it will continue forever!
My goal is to make learning so exciting in my classroom that my students will be excited to come to school and learn new things daily. My arts and crafts center builds self esteem and creates life long learners!
