My Students

My students are excited about learning. They rush into our TK class with enthusiasm and joy, ignoring the fact that they live in a high crime, low income area in the inner city. They live in a violent area where keeping calm and maintaining their inner peace are tools that would last a life time. They come from single parent homes, where an older sibling or grandparent are often the ones that watch over them while the parent is working.

My Project

Our school is unable to provide a wide variety of paint supplies for our classes. We have tons of white paint and a few purples and that is about all. We have some art paper, but lack the supplies to use them properly.

Our project is to provide basic art supplies, including paint and aprons, so that my class can experience the practice of using color to express themselves.

We would love to be able to illustrate Brown Bear, red bird, blue horse, yellow duck, green frog, black sheep, white dog, and orange fish by using those colors to create their pieces of art.
