My Students

My students are all military children as I teach on a military base. They come with lots of extra baggage as they are continuously moving around the country. When they come to my school I want them to have a positive experience in the art room.

The arts are a place where children can express their feelings and flourish.

There are many different mediums of art and I would like them to have the chance to experiment with all of them.

My Project

This project helps support a new way of learning where students are self-directing themselves in the art room. Through (TAB) Teaching For Artistic Behavior students are able to explore different art techniques throughout the school year. It is a hands-off approach where the teacher serves as a guide for students. This helps sustain student interest and learn perseverance.

Having an abundance of painting supplies in specific centers set up around the art room helps students choose what to work with.

It also helps them learn alternative ways to see their imaginations unfold. These materials can be used over and over again.
