Paint the Ceiling, Lift the Mind

Help me give my students acrylic paint sets, brushes, aprons, and primer so that they can create mental health-inspired ceiling tile murals that leave a lasting impact on our school.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach Health 12 in a school where many students quietly carry emotional burdens that impact how they show up each day. My goal is to make our classroom a space that not only teaches mental wellness but also reflects it.

My students are creative, compassionate, and eager to express themselves.

I want them to have the opportunity to leave behind a visual legacy, something that reminds others they’re not alone in what they feel.

This project will allow my students to design and paint ceiling tiles inspired by mental health themes, quotes, and imagery. We’ll use acrylic paints, brushes, primer, and sealants to turn blank tiles into vibrant, permanent art. This hands-on work will give students a chance to process their thoughts, share messages of hope, and help create a calming environment for future classes. Each tile will become a piece of healing expression, hanging above us as a daily reminder that mental health matters.
