Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials that students use to create are directly related to their end result. If they are provided with the correct tools, the result is more polished, and a true representation of the students ability. The paint for this project will let students learn how to understand and use color theory in their art practice as they build techniques.
Students will not only learn how to mix the primary colors, but also how the temperature of the primary color used, and the ratio in which you mix it, are related to the color you create when you combine them.
They will learn that they can control their outcomes and even create their own color recipes by keeping track of the ratios they use to mix colors. My goal for this project is to create concrete connection between measurement and procedure for students so that they can create a foundation of color theory basics from which to build as they continue to grow in the arts.
Students in our rooms come from all over the world, the nation, and span ability levels from Kinder to College. Teaching them how to control what they mix and how they mix it aids in reasoning and problem solving skills that can be applied to other areas of their lives.
