Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Dali, Warhol are artists we may know of and admire. But, have you heard of Michael, Isabella, Francesca, or David? Not yet, but I have. They are amazing artists at the lovely age of 4!
My students are a beautifully curious bunch.
They attend half day preschool for special education services in an urban, public school. Having a wide variety of special needs, my students fill the classroom with character, spirit, and laughter. They range in age from 3-5 years old having limited or no school experience. 90% of the children receive free or reduced lunch.
My Project
Knowing the arts are an integral part of the early childhood curriculum, I want to foster a program that gives my students the opportunities to look and talk about art by famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee & Andy Warhol, create art and develop self confidence as artists. I am asking for acrylic paint to complement canvas prints for students to create authentic personal art pieces to share with their families at our annual art gallery. Through these materials, our classroom community and learning will be strengthened as children create masterpieces of their own.
