This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking, caring kids. Over 80% of my students qualify for the free and reduced-price meal program.

These are kids that have very little exposure to the arts, but a yearning to know more.

Many of them come from homes with parents who work long hours and are not able to afford the extracurricular activities that would enhance their children's life experiences. These are parents who want a lot for their kids but just don't have the means to provide extended learning opportunities.

For most of these kids, the only exposure to the arts that they get is exposure that they get in school. Unfortunately, the school budgets are also tight right now. I want to expose my students to as many art genres and art media as I can.

These are kids who are willing to put in the after school hours to complete a special project, if provided the materials needed to complete it.

My Project

My students need a refill on their paints to finish out the year in art class. Watercolor paints are on back order from our site vendor, so the purchase of these paints will assure my students have the supplies they need right now. These paints will will allow me to keep variety in our upcoming lessons. My students have enjoyed painting in the past, and they are improving their skills. Most have used up their first set of paints, so these watercolors will provide the opportunity to paint once again.
