This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"How can I print this?" is a common question in my classroom. The answer, unfortunately, is "You can't because we don't have an Ethernet printer."

My students come from a tough urban environment in Northern California.

They are Bulldogs in name as well as spirit: They may experience adversity, but they will triumph over it. More than 70% of them qualify as socioeconomically disadvantaged. They are so-called "minority" students: Latino, African-American, Filipino, Asian, and Pacific Islander. Almost half are English language learners. Unlike their wealthier peers in nearby districts, many of them do not have computers, laptops, and printers at home.

My Project

Having an Ethernet printer in our classroom would allow students to print documents from our seven classroom devices. Currently, we have no way to print documents from our iPads and netbooks. This causes students to get frustrated when they need a hard copy of a page. Having an all-in-one printer would also allow students to scan images digitally, make copies, and print photos for non-digital presentations. This printer would be a tremendous improvement to our learning environment and would also support our burgeoning journalism elective that's beginning in the fall.

We feel the frustration of being printer-less nearly every day.

A working printer is a basic necessity that students need to succeed in the 21st century. Please help our students by donating to this project.
