This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a low income school in Homestead, Florida. My classroom is multicultural. Many of my students face many challenges on the daily basis. Most of my students come from homes where English is not their primary language. Others lack the basic needs that children need in order to succeed in school.
My third graders are invincible!
Even though there are many factors that can keep them from being successful, they come to school ready to fight the everyday struggles of life. They are brave and strong!
My Project
I am requesting backpacks for my students because I believe that every child should come to school equipped with the necessary materials to learn. Many of my students are low income, and on free or reduced price lunch. Many of their parents lack the necessary funds to provide them with all of their school supplies.
A new book bag would encourage my students to continue their learning journey, and motivate them to become successful learners.
My students will be filling their back packs with the necessary materials and supplies to help them become successful readers, as they pack their minds with new skills and strategies.
