My students need a year supply of construction and card stock paper for in-class projects and artistic displays of North Carolina history.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Spence's classroom raised $166
This project is fully funded
Where's the paper? On a typical day in 8th grade North Carolina history, we have lots of great ideas flowing, but the lack of basic supplies for that creativity to display itself. With a population where 54% of students receive free and reduced lunch, students are in dire need of classroom materials, and paper that they can take home to complete projects.
Can I have a sheet of paper? This question is asked daily in my class, and not because students have forgotten their supplies. While notebook paper exists in abundance, students will literally beg for a blank sheet of drawing paper. Too expensive for most of our students to purchase themselves, and too rare to even use for most class projects, construction and drawing paper is in high demand. As a teacher, it is difficult to see students who struggle with basic daily work but who have a real artistic talent, go without what could make them great students.
Our class needs blank paper for drawing and projects. We certainly need paper for in-class activities, such as creating maps, graphs, time-lines, and portfolios, to name just a few. At the same time, our students need art paper to do work at home. It is very difficult as a teacher to make an assignment knowing that students do not have the materials in-class or at home to complete it. This supply would give my students the ability to access and harness their artistic and project abilities with adequate supplies.
All kids deserve the same advantages. It is not fair that some students get better grades simply because they have better supplies. With your support, my students will close the equality gap. Your contribution will allow every child the same starting point in discovering their artistic, project, and organizational abilities.
