This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students are from low socioeconomic families. They are eager and excited to learn new things and look forward to working with technology!

Most of my students do not have technology available for them to use at home to explore coding, robotics, and computer science careers.

My students love hands-on activities that help connect them to what they are learning during the school year. Since many students in my classroom do not have the opportunity to interact with technology outside of using Chromebooks, I want to add some new and exciting learning tools to our classroom to make them excited about learning.

My Project

My students will use these Ozobots (STEAM Stations supplies) to learn about robotics and coding. They will work as a team to accomplish set goals by problem-solving with the use of Ozobots, special markers, and other supplies to make paths. The students will have challenges to complete at their stations! These robotics supplies will allow students to use their critical-thinking skills to solve challenges while collaborating as a team. They will need to communicate and work as a team in order to complete the challenges successfully.

Ozobots will provide skills that are crucial to the 21st century.

While coding and developing 21st century skills are necessary in today's age, they also go beyond code by teaching robotics and technology with collaborative STEAM activities. Ozobots allow students’ to use their imagination in ways that other activities do not allow. Students will be engaged in their learning and in turn will inspire them to be the next generation of computer scientists, engineers and inventors.
