This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember when your teacher kept you engaged with your learning with materials that you could touch and manipulate?

I have an inquisitive group of third graders.

They enjoy hands on activities and are kinesthetic learners. They are most excited when they are actively involved with what they are learning. My school is located in an urban community and the majority of students receive free or reduced lunch.

My Project

My students will dissect and examine owl pellets and will have a better understanding of food chains as a result of their investigations. They will think like a disciplinarian as they imitate what a scientist would do in a lab. They will identify bones using a bone identification chart. The students will use the clay to sculpt animals that we will learn about in our Science unit.

By having these materials my students will be able to have hands on experiences that many of them would probably not be able to have otherwise.

This is the kind of learning that will be cemented in their brains for years to come.
