Help me give my students owl pellets for an authentic, hands-on learning experience this year!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Koch's classroom raised $297

My Students
I teach ESOL Environmental Science in Metro Atlanta. Many of my students are newcomers to the United States and have not had very many lab-based science experiences. I love to make these classes as hands-on and engaging as possible, including engaging experiences that my students will remember!
My Project
Students will have a tangible learning experience and a wonderful phenomenon based activity to begin our lesson sequence on energy in ecosystems. We will dissect owl pellets and use our data collection to learn about predator-prey relationships, energy flow in ecosystems, and construction of food webs and food chains. Students will “do science” in what may be their first ever laboratory activity. The resources from Carolina Biological will allow my Environmental Science students to complete this dissection in pairs. Several of the materials are re-usable and will make an impact for years to come!
