My Students

I see my science students once a week. I try to make the most effective use of this time by completing a hands-on learning opportunity related to our current unit of study. This unit's topic is biodiversity.

Our blended learning environment serves hundreds of students who take classes on campus, online, at home, and in a cyber cafe.

The students come from a wide variety of learning styles and backgrounds. Students attend weekly science classes with me, where they work together and participate in hands-on learning experiences. This is a favorite time for many students. Not only do they practice science process skills, but they are also given the opportunity to work in a group setting.

My Project

As an integral part of our unit on biodiversity, I plan to have students participate in an owl pellet dissection. The Owl Pellet Classroom Study Kids I am requesting will make this possible. Students will dissect the owl pellets and learn about the barn owl's food web. This will enhance student's understanding of the relationships between living things.

Donations to this project will serve a variety of students and needs.

Students in my science classes will be given the gift of a greater understanding of the biodiversity concepts they are learning about, as well as the gift of being able to complete a valuable hands-on experience to enhance their learning.
