Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is made up of 20 amazing learners. They come to class ready to learn despite the obstacles they face prior to stepping foot in the classroom.
We are a Title I school and almost all of my students are English language learners.
My students love coming to school because I make learning fun. My students work hard each and every day. Unfortunately, they need supplies that I can’t provide on my own. This includes math tools to improve number sense and fluency.
My Project
Diane Ackerman said, "Play is our brain's favorite way of learning."
During math centers, my students enjoy rotating to different centers.
I try to make my rotations as engaging as possible. When students are in centers, they need games that are fun, meaningful, and align with the standards.
In my classroom I have special colored bins for my different math groups. Inside each bin are games that focus on the needs of my students. One of the bins will have the games that I'm requesting. These games will help my students with counting/number sense. The addition and subtraction machines will help improve addition and subtraction fluency. This self-checking machine allows students to just press the equation button and the answers pop up for immediate reinforcement!
By helping to fund this project, you will be putting important materials into the hands of children. These materials will allow my students to improve their math skills and foster their love of learning.
