Overcoming Trauma Through Yoga in the Classroom

I need help with getting the yoga teacher training that I need to work with my students that have experienced trauma!

My Students

My classes are amazing this year! These students see me for math, language arts, or both. Thirty two of the students are general education students and eight of them are special education students that have learning disabilities. Some students were all remote last year and some students came to school for a shortened day. Their learning abilities are across the board and the same goes for their social emotional learning. Although, they all are in different places the students are so kind to each other and treat each other with respect. They often cheer each other on and they are ALWAYS there for each other. In addition, many of these students have experienced trauma and experience difficult home lives. It is amazing that they show up each way in the manner they do.

My Project

I work in a Title 1 school that serves a lower income population. Many of my 5th grade students have experienced extreme trauma in the short time - ten years - that they have been alive. These students have the best hearts and the will to push through. They just don't have the proper tools in knowing how to heal the trauma they have been through.

I want to go through yoga teacher training that is specific to students that have experienced trauma.

This will enable me to give my students the proper tools and knowledge to begin healing from their experiences.

Mental health issues are at an all time high in our country. I have a passion and a desire to help the students I work with to strengthen their mental health and teach them tools they can keep in their tool box for the rest of their lives!
