Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a school counselor I am able to support my students overcoming trauma and chronic stress in a 16 week therapeutic group. They work very hard each week and we do many mindful activities. These activities require me to purchase many products so any support helps me and my students. Some of our games/activities use balloons to toss in the air and not drop them while we call out stressors, helping them recognize how hard it is to juggle our daily stressors. We us seltzer bottles to shake and show how holding in our emotions causes emotional explosions in other ways. We use the notebooks to journal and we give a nice journal as a gift when they complete all 16 weeks. We also celebrate them after the 16 weeks with a graduation and we take a photo of the group and need frames, plus we reward them for their hard work with a favorite snack (they all love blue Takis).

These students have dedicated free time at school to work through some challenges they are facing in life.

I am extremely proud of them and want to support them with these products. Thank you for the help.
