Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Participating in physical activities and sport can be very difficult for any one with physical limitations, especially, when holding and controlling another object is required. This means some never get to fully participate in sports like, baseball, tennis, hockey, golf, and more. The Overcomer kit, requested, is a specifically modified piece of equipment to allow manipulatives, like bats, rackets, sticks, and clubs be attached and controlled with alight pull of a lever. With this tool, my students can practice more skills and participate in sports like never before.
This inclusive experience will promote independence, increased student success, and encourage positive self-esteem overall.
Being able to participate in new ways, will provide positive supports for my students not just through physical participation, but by promoting social engagement with their peers. Participating in sports that they may not have regular access too can provide a highly inclusive and positive social social environment for students of all ability levels to benefit from.
This kit is also designed for portability, easy setup, storage, which will allow me to use this kit at multiple schools and events. This will allow me to provide access to an even larger group of students throughout our district.
