Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an energetic and capable group of Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade special education students. Despite the unprecedented changes the whole world is experiencing due to Covid-19 my students continue to stay motivated to learn.
My Project
At school, my students spend endless hours practicing fire drills, earthquake drills, bus drills and lock down drills but they have never had a virus drill that would prepared them to distance learning. After the school shut down on March 13, 2020. I never imagine that I would be teaching my special needs students, from home, via Zoom meeting. At first, my amazing, special education students, responded well to the new way of teaching. They worked very hard to stay focused but I could see that I needed to find a tool that would allow me to enhance my student’s learning. A Document Camera was the answer.
The Document Camera included in this project would serve to improve my delivery of interactive and engaging understandable lessons during Zoom synchronize instruction.
Many of my students are visual learners and a Document Camera would be an important tool to help them with comprehension.
