Help me give my students the experience of weaving with a loom. We love weaving on what we already have, but need another Melissa & Doug Multi-Craft Weaving loom so more can work with this medium.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Fox's classroom raised $213

My Students
"We can't wait to be back!" was a quote I heard more than once this summer. As an art teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, I know my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many are being raised by grandparents.
Despite the many challenges they face, my students are creative and enthusiastic to learn.
These circumstances that are beyond their control limit them from having life experiences many of us see as "typical". In my classroom, they are able to experience where art might take them, drawing, painting, and creating in 3 dimensions as well as learning about artists, many of which had circumstances that they can relate to. All contribute to an art program that encourages thinking and problem solving, explores diversity and excites the students.
My Project
In an effort to find a medium that is hands-on and requires both eye-hand coordination and concentration I decided to try weaving a couple of years ago in my classroom. The results were amazing! Students with anger issues were quietly working next to students who were learning the skill of concentration. Younger students were being given pointers and instruction by the older children. Pride was bubbling up to the surface while their artistic and social skills were blossoming.
Weaving on our class looms is an artistic endeavor the encourages boys and girls; the youngest and oldest, the skilled and the beginner to work together.
It has improved behavior, fine motor skills and the ability to maintain a concentrated effort while allowing students the ability to create something tangible that they can take pride in.
We have a large loom and another small one like we are requesting in this project and just want to be able to reach more students. In addition, we are running low on yarn choices which really inhibits the creativity. We thank you for considering our request.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
