Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This year in preschool, in addition to academics and preparing for kindergarten, we have been working on learning social skills, language and communication, fine motor skills, following directions and playing and interacting with others.

The weather is warming up, and I would love to take my students outside for the rest of the school year and work on some of these skills!

In preschool, we learn mostly through play. Outdoor toys would provide my students with fun and engaging way to continue learning through play while also soaking up the sun!

Scoop ball and velcro toss and catch are great games that students can play in pairs. These games would allow my students to work on fine motor skills, interacting and playing with one another, following directions and so much more!

A bouncy hopper and a sit and spin are both really fun things for students with sensory needs, and can be used for helping students learn to take turns, wait patiently, and communicate or request things they want or need.

Sand buckets would be fun for the students who enjoy playing in the sand outside, and they could play together, which would be another way to work on things like interacting with others and communication.

Beach balls are another fun thing for students, and they are lightweight, so they provide an easy accommodation for students that may otherwise not be able to use a regular or heavier ball. Throwing a ball is another great way to work on taking turns, playing with others, following directions, and attention and focus!

All of these outdoor toys would provide my students with a way to work on important skills while also enjoying being outside and getting fresh air!
