My Project

I am entering my tenth year as a special education teacher. For the first time, I will be rolling up with my current 6th graders. I have 25 students on my case load with varying degrees of specific learning disability, dyslexia, and ADHD. I'd like to make our room their home away from home, giving them a place to get out their wiggles, improve their skills, and feel like they have a safe space to learn and be themselves.

I've added items to my list that I feel are missing from my classroom.

Books designed to allow those with dyslexia to independently read and enjoy themselves, seats and items that allow them to move within specific spaces while they focus on their work, lighting that they have expressed a desire for in our room. When donors like you provide for my students, they know that there are good people in the world and allow me to help them learn to navigate not just school, but the world about them.
