Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an ABA program in a public middle school. The students in our class are amazing, hard-working, and love learning new skills. Our students are interested in learning life skills that will help them benefit both themselves and their community.
We are always looking for ways to improve our students' life skills and social skills, but also the overall community of our school.
Our students integrate into general education classes to focus on their social skills as well as introduce the rest of the school to their skill sets. This project would not only benefit our class, but all of the students in our middle school.
My Project
We would like to put a sensory garden outside of our school. We will need funding for gardening tools, dirt, plants, planters, and other materials needed to make a successful sensory garden.
The purpose of this garden would be to teach our students responsibility, new life skills, pre-vocational skills, and about the process of gardening.
It would also provide more opportunities for our students to socialize and interact with peer models in our school. Finally, the sensory garden will provide a peaceful place for all of the students of the middle school to visit during free times in their day.
