My Project

Olinda Elementary School is excited to be transitioning to an extended school day for our littlest learners. This will give them an opportunity to work hard, learn lots and have fun...in and out of the classroom. We are excited to transform our playground into an "outdoor classroom" where learning can be engaging and purposeful. Working together as a class community, indoors and outdoors, has many benefits, and we are excited to watch our students grow in all areas this year!

Mental Well-being: Being outdoors exposes children to natural light and fresh air, which can boost mood and reduce stress.

It also provides opportunities for sensory exploration, stimulating cognitive development and creativity.

Social Skills: Outdoor play often involves interaction with other children, fostering social skills such as cooperation, negotiation, and communication. It encourages teamwork and empathy as kids collaborate on activities and navigate social dynamics.

Healthy Habits: Engaging in outdoor play from a young age promotes a lifelong habit of physical activity and healthy living. It can help prevent obesity and related health problems by encouraging active lifestyles.

Stress Reduction: Time spent outdoors can help reduce feelings of anxiety and improve overall mental health. The natural environment provides a calming effect, allowing children to unwind and recharge.
