Outdoor Play to Encourage Collaboration in PreK!

Help me give my students a giant octoplay set to enhance our outdoor play area.

My Students

Students in my classroom are military dependents and local residents of a large town in Hawaii. Our school is a Title I school which means we have a high percentage of students from low-income families. Furthermore, our school has a transient population due to the students with parents in the military.

My students are fun-loving, preschool aged, special education students.

Students have different disabilities such as autism, speech delays, and developmental delays but they are eager, bright, and love to learn about everything! I hope to make their first experiences in school fun and engaging!

My Project

My students live in Hawaii where the weather is typically bright and beautiful. It is the perfect setting to create our door learning spaces and activities.

Learning outdoors with the giant octoplay blocks will encourage creativity and collaboration as the work together to create giant sculptures.

Along with those skills, the blocks will also promote language development, measurement skills, and inquiry and questioning. The outcomes and possibilities for learning are endless.

These octoplay blocks are the perfect learning activity for my PreK special education students! Please help me create an outdoor learning space with these octoblocks for my amazing students.
