Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We believe every child can learn if we challenge, guide and provide the tools needed. By the end of the year, all children will improve their literacy skills, science and mathematical skills. Our students will be more active, play together, have healthier lives and learn about tolerance among them and our school community, which will aid them in being more successful in the next grade. The challenge comes with the lack of materials, equipment and all the budget cuts.
We have a high number of free or reduced price lunch students in our school and district.
Our classrooms are an all-inclusive model, where all children learn together. Because of the bad economy, some of our students are homeless at times. They are immigrant English learners from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Spanish learners from the community around the school. My children are so eager to learn new things. Our wonderful staff in our community school continues to learn and implement new ways to teach our students and strive to help everyone succeed.
My Project
Our Bilingual learners need tools and supplies for our new outdoors classroom and playground. We need outdoor education supplies such science tool kits, measuring tools, observational tools and gardening materials available to use when learning outside the traditional classroom.
A goal is to have planting areas and add garden beds.
We want to be able to promote environmental stewardship in students that support green spaces in the school and the community. Another goal is to increase hands on experience to all students in the school with a focus in Bilingualism, Science, Social Justices and Cultural differences using out new outside green space.
