This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Our school district has experienced several tragedies that heavily impacted our immigrant community. As a school home to hundreds of immigrant families, we are committed to providing our students with enriching opportunities that foster learning and connection to the world around them. We believe that a school garden is a powerful educational tool that will enhance our student's academic experience and promote a sense of community and environmental stewardship.
A school garden will serve as an outdoor classroom, allowing our students to engage in hands-on learning experiences that align with the curriculum to extend learning beyond traditional classroom walls.
The garden/classroom will serve as a dynamic educational tool and a center for remembrance and reflection. In addition, by integrating outdoor learning spaces, we hope to instill a sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship.
The requested cultivator will enhance the aesthetics of our outdoor space, provide practical tools for our students to learn about sustainable gardening practices, and offer a day of service to our students. Thank you for considering our project and participating in our journey to create a our urban outdoor learning space.
